Our Lean Journey
In 2011, Viking Plastics embarked on a lean journey and culture transformation.
Lean is about eliminating waste through daily improvements. We are committed to educating all of our employees on the eight forms of waste in order to make continuous improvements. Identifying wastes and working to reduce and eliminate them through small daily improvements is an expectation from every one of our employees.
Each employee is required to attend one of four daily drumbeat meetings that cover the following:
- Sharing pertinent metrics about our business
- Educating ourselves
- Daily team interaction
- Sharing our improvements and celebrating “2-Second Lean”
- Getting “on the same page” to ensure our team is aligned
Viking Plastics is committed to eliminating waste and making daily activities as simplistic as possible. We have a “fix what bugs us” mentality. Working together and keeping our team on the same page is important to the success of our lean journey. It is important that we share our successes to determine the best way to make constant improvements every day. As we continue to grow, we improve our efficiencies daily by reducing waste and enhancing the value-added capabilities of our business.
