VPI Acquistion Corp. acquires the assets of Viking Plastics, a leading supplier in the injection molded plastics industry.

CORRY, PA (August 7, 2006) The assets of Viking Plastics, a leader in using innovative design and post-molding assembly methods to replace metal components with engineered resins, has been acquired by VPI Acquisition Corp.

The transaction, conducted at a public sale, was consummated on August 4th, and positions the company to achieve aggressive growth.

Kelly Goodsel, who had served as president and CEO of Viking under the previous ownership, will retain that role with the newly created company. Goodsel, who brings an extensive background in the plastics industry, is a principal in VPI Acquisition Corp.

The new company is positioned to serve customers throughout the United States as well as foreign markets from Central Europe to the Far East, supplying high-quality, precision-engineered components crucial to the automotive, HVAC, electronics/telecommunications and appliance manufacturing sectors.

"Since joining Viking in 2000, it made steady improvements and was on the verge of something really special. An assessment performed by the holding company led to a decision to divest the business,” Goodsel said. "When the Senior Lenders decided to sell the assets, I saw the potential of the collective assets and decided to act quickly. Companies with the customers, people, tradition and expertise of Viking Plastics are rare."

Goodsel, a graduate of Ferris State College with dual degrees in Plastics Engineering and Sales and Marketing, and an MBA from Temple University, called Viking "a secure company with solid financial management ready to grow," and indicated that key employees will be hired by the new company.

Early on, Viking developed a proprietary line of plastic and rubber sealing closures for under-the-hood automotive and industrial applications. From this solid base, the company grew to provide custom injection molding for a variety of industries. Rigorous engineering, design and development activities, coupled with high-quality molding and post-molding secondary services, have made Viking a reliable and dependable custom injection-molding partner with customers in a variety of industries.

Today, Viking Plastics, a VPI Acquisition Corp. Company provides comprehensive engineering, injection molding and post-molding secondary services such as high-volume automated assembly with special capabilities in:

• TS16949 and ISO9002 quality systems
• Closed-loop process controlled technical molding
• Secondary assembly and testing
• Tooling
• ERP
• EDI
• Bar-Code Labeling (on all production)

Viking Plastics Earns ISO/TS 16949:2002 Certification

Corry, PA (December 9, 2005) Viking Plastics recently earned TS quality certification from the International Automotive Task Force (IATF), in conjunction with the International Organization for Standardization.

ISO/TS 16949:2002 quantifies the quality system aspects related to design, development, production, installation and servicing of automotive-related products. The designation aligns existing quality systems standards that exist in the US, Germany, Italy and France, eliminating the need of automotive parts manufacturers to seek certification from different countries around the world.

"TS certification places Viking Plastics among the elite suppliers within the automotive industry," said Bill Eisenman, Director of Sales. "With TS certification in place, our position as an industry leader and our continued growth position us as a solid supplier to a consolidating industry."

Viking Plastics has provided custom injection molded components and assemblies for more than 30 years to customers worldwide in the automotive, industrial, medical, HVAC and electronics/telecommunications industries. Viking Plastics provides comprehensive engineering, injection molding and post-molding secondary services for high-volume automated assembly with special capabilities in ISO/TS 16949 quality systems, custom technical molding and tooling, company-wide integrated WAN, ERP, EDI and bar-code labeling.

CORRY, PA - Having recently celebrated its 30th anniversary, Viking Plastics is well underway with an aggressive expansion in the plastics market that is projected to quadruple its book of business over the next five years.

"The niche-oriented growth that we've had over the past 30 years has been driven by excellent people with creative ideas on how to meet our customers' evolving needs," said Kelly Goodsel, the company's president and chief executive officer. "We're going to accelerate the growth process by adding more resources and improving our capabilities, while maintaining our focus on zero-defect quality and intense customer service."

The market expansion will be supported by a steady upgrade of machinery and process technology, and by annual increases in employment, Goodsel explained. Viking Plastics plans to acquire other injection-molding operations to help serve their steadily growing base in the automotive industry, while equipping the company to strongly market their injection-molded components and assemblies to the appliance, commercial/residential air conditioning, electronics, telecommunications, and medical industries.

Viking Plastics marked its 30th year in business on Aug. 16 with a commemoration that included a formal announcement concerning plans for the company's future.

The company operates from a 12-acre complex in Corry, Pa. The complex houses a 65,000-square-foot facility -- one of the industry's most completely equipped plants -- that includes 25 tight-tolerance, high-volume presses and nine automated assembly machines. Viking Plastics annually produces more than 300 million parts, following quality systems that have earned the ISO/TS 16949 certification.

Viking Plastics offers new approach to connecting auto air-conditioning lines

CORRY, PA - Viking Plastics introduces a one-piece snap connector that is lighter and easier to install on automotive air-conditioning lines than conventional threaded connectors.

The snap connector comprises a tube/o-ring assembly that can be quickly installed by hand -- no tools are required. This simplified installation not only saves labor time, but also eliminates torque pressure that can damage the tube.

Viking Plastics snap connectors -- made of highly engineered reinforced themoplastic -- weigh 32 percent less than conventional aluminum threaded block fittings, reducing overall system weight and "pull-on" tubing.

Because these durable connectors are rustproof, corrosion between the nut and block is eliminated. The result is a long, maintenance-free life.
