SUMMARY:  This entry level position is responsible for supporting program management/APQP launch engineering activities.  This includes learning about Viking processes and culture, and then utilizing talents to assist program management engineers with new projects.  Activities include CAD, processing, setup, training, and document generation

RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

  • Learning Viking systems and methods
  • Providing feedback on current Viking techniques vs current instruction from university
  • Providing support to various aspects of new program development
  • 3D CAD utilization to develop concepts and prints for simple fixtures, tables, etc.
  • Assisting with new mold trials including setup, processing, and training documents
  • Generating work instructions with the aid of engineers and quality
  • Assisting in training events
  • Generating PowerPoint presentations to communicate information
  • Analyzing data and providing analysis with support of engineering and quality
  • Investigating current processes for improvement opportunities
  • Shadowing various departments to learn about Viking and manufacturing

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

  • Basic knowledge of materials
  • Prior experience with setting a mold and at least one processing class
  • Experience with 3D modeling utilizing Solidworks or comparable 3D CAD package
  • Ability to make and deliver presentations

Maintenance Technician

JOB TITLE: Maintenance Technician
EXEMPT: Hourly

REPORTS TO: Tech Services Manager
HOURS: Shift

SUMMARY: This position has responsibilities to maintain and improve plastics manufacturing equipment and facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

  • Repair, perform preventative maintenance, trouble-shoot injection molding and other types of machines.
  • Repair, perform preventative maintenance on facility.
  • Order supplies as directed by department.
  • Work with other departments to ensure all equipment is in condition to meet customer production requests.
  • Maintain work areas in professional manner.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

  • Must have current driver’s license and good driving record
  • Must demonstrate good communication skills in both verbal and written form.
  • Must be familiar with electrical drawings, mechanical drawings, and hydraulic/pneumatic drawings.
  • Must demonstrate good knowledge of basic mathematics, measuring practices and working knowledge of test equipment.
  • Must have reliable transportation and communication means.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and call-in.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Must have high school diploma or GED equivalent with minimum of two years of electro-mechanical Training /experience in a production/plant environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assure safety of all employees
  • Ensure GBC (Process Baseline) is maintained.
  • Startup and troubleshoot the injection molding process
  • Make adjustments to correct/prevent parts defects.
  • Maintain and improve manufacturing efficiencies (more good parts per hour)
  • Assure IATF16949 compliance through procedure adherence and paperwork flow
  • Maintain and improve cleanliness and orderliness in the area
  • Perform housekeeping chores as department requirements dictate.
  • Attend training as required.
  • Assist in covering the manufacturing floor on weekends

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

  • Two to three years of injection molding processing experience

  • Provide imaginative, thorough, and practicable solutions to a wide range of technical problems involving the conventional utilization of material process techniques.
  • Conceive and plan projects involving the development of new methods to attain objectives.
  • Learn, utilize and train on APQP launch functions and lead new program launches.
  • Interface with mold and tool suppliers to develop robust molds.
  • Interface with engineering services providers.
  • Support sales activities through travel, presentations, and technical support activities.
  • Develop timelines and coordinate internal and external resources.
  • Utilize best practices and lessons learned to launch successful new programs.
  • Support internal continuous improvement activities.
  • Lead cross functional teams to successfully complete projects (internal and external projects and teams).
