As a member of SAE Thermal Management Seminars, Viking Plastics has developed a close working relationship with industry engineers in the development of sealing solutions designed specifically for the HVAC industry, assuring regulatory requirements are met while meeting the demands of the customer.

Our revolutionary Universal Chargeport Cap has been designed to meet the requirements of the R134a Refrigerant currently used in most automobiles, in addition to meeting the refrigerant of the future hfo1234yf. This design is very unique in that it can be used with either refrigerant and designed to engage properly with either kind of valve used with said refrigerant. With various sizes to fit all valves in the industry and a variety of colors, we offer customers multiple solutions to their charge port cap applications.

Viking recently introduced a new Integrated Shipping Cap (ISC), to work in tandem with the Universal Chargeport Cap, providing the supplier or end user dust protection for their component or system. In addition the ISC can provide a cost savings during assembly and/or evacuation/charging of the system by having a shipping cap specifically designed for the application that works in conjunction with the charge port cap.

A variety of tethers have been offered by Viking Plastics for many years, allowing the cap to be attached (tethered) to the valve or end product, based on when installed.

New to the market, Viking received a patent for the Universal Chargeport Cap/Integrated Shipping Cap/Tether combination that provides customers dust protection during shipping, reduced assembly costs and saves time at the OEM assembly plant. The supplier can also offer the OEM supplier consolidation capabilities, as they will be providing dust protection with the integrated shipping cap (ISC) and end use HVAC Charge port cap, tethered to their component. The ISC is easily removed and recycled by the OEM during evacuation/charging and the tethered cap is assured to be there for installation when charging is completed. This tether also allows the OEM to meet the SAE J639 Spec, requiring tether of such caps, already being enforced in some states in the United States.
