Corry, PA, September 4, 2018 – Gerald Cox, former president of Kentucky Manufacturing and Technology and current Vice President of Sales & Engineering at Viking Plastics, announced his retirement effective September 11, 2018.

Cox, 62, has worked in plastics since 1977. After working four years as a machinist for ABC Machine and Henry Vogt Machine Co., he entered the plastics industry with Aggressive Tool & Die (which later merged with Practical Mechanics in Louisville, KY) and Beach Mold and Tool in New Albany, Indiana.

Cox then built Hi-Tech Mold & Tool, which he owned and operated for 28 years.

During that time, he was granted a patent for American Beverage.

He started Kentucky Manufacturing and Technology in 2010 and sold the company to Viking Plastics in May, 2017.

He also owned Sea-long Medical Systems, Inc, a medical device manufacturing company from 1985 to 2015, where he was granted patents on medical devices.

Cox holds a journeyman tool and die certificate and a Plastics Technology certificate.

“Viking, the Louisville community, and the plastics industry are going to miss Gerald’s professionalism and his willingness to help whenever someone asks,” said Viking Plastics President/CEO Kelly Goodsel. “I want to wish Gerald and his family all the best in retirement.”

Outside of work, Cox is a volunteer fireman and a licensed commercial pilot who flies his own plane. A diehard University of Louisville fan, he plans on spending more time with his three kids and two grandkids, keeping busy with travel and household projects.

Succeeding Cox at Viking Plastics is Adam Auffart.
