Corry, PA, July 12, 2018 – In a recently-completed IATF (International Automotive Task Force) audit, Viking Plastics earned a rare “zero findings” certification. IATF certification is required for automotive suppliers starting September 2018.
Viking Plastics, a global provider for automotive OEM and tier suppliers, started installing processes and procedures to meet IATF standards over a year earlier in August 2017. The recently-concluded audit results support Viking Plastics’ commitment to quality.
“Zero Finding” IATF Audit
Viking Plastics earned a “zero findings” result from the IATF audit. According to the auditing f
irm Intertek, only 2.5% of the IATF audits globally result in a zero-finding audit.
“We have a very strong and dedicated team that really shined during the audit,” said Amanda Wells, Quality Engineer on the IATF audit.
Wells added, “The IATF auditor was also very impressed with our daily drumbeat meetings where we all share ideas on how to eliminate waste and streamline processes. He said he has seen only 2 or 3 companies that hold such meetings.”
Culture of Quality
Viking Plastics has now earned ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and IATF 16949:2016 certification at the Corry, PA facility. The Louisville, KY facility is ISO 9001:2015 certified; the Scottsburg, Indiana plant is IATF 16949:2016 certified and the Genesis facility in Jeffersonville, IN is ISO 9001:2015 certified. Quality processes and systems fulfill customers’ product requirements from conception to zero PPM launch.
“The results of this transition audit continue to illustrate the caliber of team members that Viking Plastics employs,” said Viking Plastics President/CEO Kelly Goodsel. “The level of commitment of the people here at Viking Plastics to meet or exceed customer expectations is both exhilarating and humbling to me.“
Every employee is committed to quality, according to Quality Manager Bob Senz.
“Some companies take the approach of quality as a department and a responsibility of a few people,” Senz added, “but the whole team at Viking embraces quality as a destination in our journey to service our customers. “As we ‘fix what bugs us’ and eliminate waste, it continues to result in a clean, lean system where people see and understand the true value of engaged team members.”
