Additional $2 MM expansion is projected through 2023

August 24, 2022, Jeffersonville, Indiana – Viking Plastics, a leading injection molding and value-added assembly service provider, is excited to announce they have once again added new capabilities to their facility.

Specializing in new injection mold tooling and tool repair, the company added two additional injection mold presses and assembly cells to its Jeffersonville facility and plans to add three more by the end of September. Bringing assembly in-house doubles the company’s output, increasing truck loads shipments to four per week.

“The addition of two more molding machines and additional assembly lines in Indiana will allow our customer to capture more market share and improve logistics efficiencies in the supply chain,” says Shawn Gross, vice president of culture and business development. “This also improves productivity in our Indiana facility and enhances our utilization of assets.”

Since the start of the year, the company has added $2 million in upgrades to the 40,000-square-foot facility, including a new cooling water system, new material handling and drying system, five molding machines ranging from 220 ton to 560 ton with robots, autoboxing units and additional auxiliary equipment to support presses. They have hired employees in various positions, including management, supervisors, technical and direct labor. Additional hiring is projected into 2023 and they expect employment in the molding and assembly areas to double over the next 6-9 months.

The expansion provides capacity to meet increasing demands from a key HVAC customer. The customer’s new products (developed with support from Viking) offer residential homes higher energy efficiency and provide an installation time reduction for builders. With the addition of assembly, recent equipment additions will allow for doubling of production output to support customer demand.
