Corry, PA-based plastic injection molding company receives the award three years running
Corry, PA, June 26, 2017 – Viking Plastics, a leading injection molding and value-added assembly service provider, announced it has received the 2016 General Motors Supplier Quality Excellence Award for achieving the highest levels of performance in quality excellence. This is the third consecutive award and fourth in five years for Viking Plastics, a Tier 1 supplier to General Motors.
The annual GM Supplier Quality Excellence Award is given to only a few, top performing suppliers that meet or exceed General Motors’ stringent quality performance criteria. General Motors recognizes that its ability to fulfill its mission “to design, build and sell the world’s best vehicles with the highest levels of quality and safety on the road” is dependent on the quality of the parts it receives from partners such as Viking Plastics.
“It is an honor to receive this award, and we are particularly proud to receive it three years in a row demonstrating that commitment to long term quality is ingrained in our organization,” said Kelly Goodsel, president and CEO of Viking Plastics. “We are proud of the culture we have created at Viking Plastics where all of our Process Engineers (employees) are committed to quality and daily continuous improvement.”
Viking Plastics’ 200+ employees participate in daily drumbeat meetings that include reports of the initiative employees take to improve processes. The company’s lean manufacturing culture focuses the entire team on eliminating waste and optimizing workflows, which enables Viking Plastics to deliver high-quality products to its customers.
In the letter from GM informing Viking Plastics of the award, it was stated that, “The award is given to specific manufacturing locations and only our top performing supplier manufacturing sites are eligible to receive it. Suppliers who receive this award have met or exceeded a very stringent set of quality performance criteria and have achieved the cross-functional support of the entire GM organization. This was even a bigger challenge as GM continues to launch many new and exciting products.”
